  This guide has few illustrations to facilitate quick and easy printing  
.......should you wish to take a copy to the flat with you.......

You will be staying at...

Flat 2B, Block 5,.......Conjuncto Carihuela Playa........40/42  Calle Salvador Allende,......Montemar........Torremolinos

Calle Salvador Allende runs between the Pez Espada and the Barracuda Hotels...The Apartment complex main entrance is just across the road from the Big Green Cross Sign....( Farmacia )......as per website map & details for taxi driver......

Lets start with the door keys.....You will be given 2 sets each containing 2 keys ...the oblong end one opens all complex doors.... round end key opens our apartment only......

Our apartment door closes shut  without use of a key...this is ok to use if only going out for a few moments or if someone left in flat......otherwise we recommend using the key to operate the double security lock .....

Which ever method you use please make sure either you have key in your possession or someone is still inside flat when you exit......because...if door closes unexpectedly or slams shut with the through draft...you will not be able to regain entrance till Mikey  our son, finishes work and returns to  Montermar..(usually after 9pm )...

Also please be aware the last half turn of the key needed to open this flat door is sometimes quite hard to perform.....

       If you finish your holiday and have to vacate our flat before our cleaning staff arrive .....
 
PLEASE LEAVE BOTH SETS OF KEYS ON THE COAT HOOKS INSIDE THE MAIN DOOR...

then close the door firmly so that it can only be opened by Marie's key when she arrives.



Electrical trip switches (in Wall Cupboard), brollies and a walking stick are all in entrance hall.....
Lets hope you never need any of them...

There is a blue bin in Kitchen for Rubbish.....we normally utilize  poly supermarket bags as bin liners for this.......
 these full tied up poly bags can easily be taken away down to  large communal bins ...these are in rubbish room ........ 
(big metal doors on outside of building)  ...... to right as you exit  block 5 entrance hall glass doors......  

Only front two hobs are connected on kitchen cooker.........however...grill, oven and microwave all work ok........

You will find both large and small pedestal cooling air fans on top of bedroom wardrobes 



 ...We have plans to convert our second double bedroom to a second winter living room....
when that happens  we will chage sofa in Living Room to a double put-u-up divan.... ...also....
Our Flat  has only the one loo...should this be a problem at any time ....., 
there are additional toilets (Servicios) down on the far side of swimming pool.  

Washing machine operation is straightforward,,,,,fill with washing....close door firmly...insert powder in left  drawer....turn power on (far right button).....then set program by pressing left button three times  (this appears to be best program setting).............should you need conditioner....manually put in middle drawer before machine starts  ......

please do not try and force machine door open....it operates on a timer and will easily open after a few minutes once machine has fully stopped washing cycle.


If the Hot Tap Water runs cold during your stay this usually means no Gas or loss of Flame in Heater....
First ...check pilot light ....if out or very weak....shake and check weight of orange connected gas bottle to see if gas 
has run out...if still contains gas... then most likely the wind has blown out the Heater Pilot Light...so proceed as below....

to re-ignite pilot put slide bar button in middle setting and keep holding button end in......flick the auto ignite button a few times till pilot ignites...once pilot lights up...keep holding button in for approx 10 secs...slowly release...
if pilot light stays on...slide bar back to original operating position (nearly at right hand end of slide)...
Turn on hot water tap over sink next to Heater .....if all Boiler flames ignite and water comes hot you have successfully completed re-ignition.

Empty Gas Bottle changeover procedure......First put Heater control button  all the way to the left end of slide ......Remove locking cap from old gas cylinder by squeezing black collar upwards....change old for new bottle....replace Cap...making sure locking black collar is pushed down and fully secured....check cap top control is open (flipped on its back) then proceed to re-ignite as previous instructions....piece of cake......

any problems ...please ring our son Mikey and he will sort it for you.......

Should you use up all the Gas in the bottles left for you....
refills are available on Tuesday or Friday Mornings....
Cost about 15 euros each(includes service tip)....just pay the complex handyman/gardener.....
and leave old bottle outside our flat door on the correct morning......

                                                                                      IMPORTANT

People come to Spain on Holiday  because its  very hot and sunny....as such windows and balcony doors  are left wide 
open to best catch any cooling breeze....... unfortunately the through draft that this creates can cause major problems... 
if not guarded against....... 

Our laundry room door  is a case in point.....if left open un-propped...even for a few seconds....if can slam shut with disastrous consequences...we have left a big heavy plastic bottle to prop open this door...and the use of this allied 
to  keeping  the main kitchen door closed when possible ........will go a long way to avoiding any broken glass 
or smashed tiles etc.....

 The flat screen TV  in living room is currently set up to receive UK Free Sat programs........
  
where possible we try and ensure that all remotes are correctly set up before you take up residence 
   but sometimes when changeovers take place midweek the remotes have been "got at"....

   if this is the case.and....if no one in your party is "remote" savvy.....apologies...you may have to phone Mikey 
   to come along after he finishes work to re-set.

 We always request holiday makers not only to turn off using the two remotes but also turn off the switch on the four gang plug ...this ensures that both tv and sat box are fully turned off ,,,not just on stand-by......(please...think green !!!)


Finally...You will note the balcony double doors have a little emblem in the middle of the glass.....you will be surprised how many people tried  to walk through this glass door unopened before we put the transfer there......
