You
are most likely already familiar with the Complexes front entrance ....
big green gates by the Chinese restaurant....incidentally the
nearest bus stop for the local bus to
Torremolinos is just to the left
of these gates.... fare just over 1 euro......buses run about every half
hour
But
did you know we also have a back gate ...just past block 6 .....this
leads to the road below your balcony...
on
exiting this back gate..... if you turn left ...just up the road there is a
well stocked, reasonably priced
supermarket which sells
many UK brands but chiefly stocks the best variety of fresh bread in the
area ...
plus, if you order in advance..... they will spit roast a
delicious chicken to take-away anytime to suit you
(up to about 7.30
pm...Not open Sunday) ....

|
From
your balcony on the right you can see a long low building ...this is the
local Medical Centre/Clinic..(Not open Weekends).....just in case.....Don't
forget you will need to bring your new plastic "Unexpired" European Health Insurance
Card .....and.....remember... if you fancy renting a car you will need
your UK Driving License as well..
If
you need any medication or pharmaceutical product the local Farmacia is left
just across the road from complex main gates... opening hours
are listed on their door...plus...should you need them...there are 24/7 Farmacias in Torremolinos
Useful tip.... bring with you a copy prescription for any medicines
currently being prescribed in UK...because...in the case of having to
replace these medicines for any reason.....Farmacias will normally be
able to supply prescribed items....obviously not free...but you
can ask the price in advance.....if the item required is not available
over the counter and you simply must have the medication....go to the
Health Centre...preferably with a spanish speaking person and request
prescription from a doctor......(still will not be free but price could
be greatly reduced).......

The
nearest Internet access and phone home cabin is out of main
entrance...
turn right and is on the first crossroad just past
taxi-rank....also just past Chinese
restaurant by main gates is to be
found the local Estanco where cigs and baccy
are considerably
cheaper than in UK ...
A
good place to change money, arrange car rental or book a day trip is
Betis Travel ..just by taxi-rank...only open Spanish Hours .......
(ie closed
most mid-afternoon for a
siesta)
Nearest hole in the wall is up road past internet cabin ..there are 2 on opposite
sides of road alongside
RUI Hotel......

Cheap
booze and foodstuffs can be bought from the two big local
supermarkets ,
these are both on the main road at the far side of the
cranes on the building site
as seen from our balcony....
up
to main road by road side of fresh bread supermarket ...then turn left
past
ring road roundabout for Lydl,s ....zebra crossing to the other side
of road......
....OR.....up
to main road by side of Clinic and local spanish cafe...
up steps to Toms Very Low Cost Drinks and Snackbar on the
right..........
then keep right on main road ... past "swordfish" roundabout for
Mercadona...
(like spanish Tescos).....zebra crossing to the other side of main
road.........

The
weekly markets are worth a visit....Huge one in Fuengirola on a Tuesday
morning ....
via bus from main bus stop by McDonalds in Benalmadena .... approx 10 min
walk.....
or by
Train from nearby Pinillo....walk or take taxi up ring road to 24 hours
Petrol station...
there
is also smaller local one on Thursday morning (local torremolinos bus
drops you right there)
and...on Sunday morning on the same site there is a large boot
fair/market...however on Sunday
the local bus does not go all the
way...you have to get off at the stop outside
the new ayuntimento (Town
Hall) and walk across the main Torremolinos Ring Road.....
both days.....if more than 3
people...take a taxi ...its easier and not much more.
|
 |
Just
past this market area is also the Crocodile Attraction
and nearby Aquapark...both
ideal kids territory...........
also around here you will find the local bull ring......
(look for next fight
date posters)
and
football stadium.....

By far the best
local feature in my opinion is the new wide beachside
promenade
which stretches to Malaga in one direction and well past Benalmadena
Marina in the other...
stroll towards Malaga (left) on this and first come to lovely
Carihuela ..renown for its many little shops, boutiques, cafés and
restaurants...or keep going round the rock and you will come to
the walkway up the steps to San Miguel street in Torremolinos
...both places well worth visiting......
Stroll
towards Benamadena (right) and inside a few minutes you will come to the
magnificent Puerto Marina....all sorts of boutiques, cafes etc and boat
trips during the day , with a fantastic nightlife (especially after 10
pm Weekends)
Also
within easy reach are Tivoli world....the cable car...(both in
Arroyo)....and Malaga itself ...... well worth sightseeing.....
Within a day trip distance are...Selwo Safari Park ...Mijas...Rhonda....Gib....Granada..... Ceuta
(Spanish Morocco)
..... more information on most of these places can be
found in local travel agencies
we hope the information in this
guide helps you enjoy a more memorable holiday experience.
